She's covered sports for many of the top outlets around the globe. The journalist spent more than a decade reporting on sports for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols began a nine year time at ESPN which saw her win the two Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top programs like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. As a reporter in the stands, she was also a participant on Monday Night Football. After she left the ESPN network, her subsequent station was CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. More than 1 billion people saw it on the air worldwide. Nichols also reported on behalf of TNT for NBA broadcasts during playoffs and broadcasts for the All-Star game. She also reported for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. Through the history of 42 years of this award, this was the only time a woman had been among the 200+ nominees.
